Hello all, I think I just got lucky but this might work. I bought an old Toshiba laptop just to take apart and put back togather for practice. Most don't but this one still had a hard drive in it. The ebay description was bad screen and battery. I replaced the screen and borrowed a friends charger, everything works fine. I had less than $50.00 in this. Let the wife play with it for a couple weeks and resold it on eBay for a starting bid of $50.00 and it sold for $90.00. Has anyone else done anything like this just as a hobby and had it work with any consistency with it? Thanks for any help and advise. Gary.

$40 profit seems pretty good. Whether you were "lucky" or not is a point of view me thinks. ;) People do buy broken computers and refurbish them for resale, to make money, be it a hobby or just part of their business.

$40 profit is good. I am curious how you replaced a screen for less than $50 though - did you find a used one that fit?

yea i found two of the same model one with a bad screen the other missing a bunch of parts, but a good screen. It was a blast working on them and ending up with something that worked in the end.

"Consistency" is the operative word here... "no" is the other key word... :|
