My favorite so far is IPFire but for some reason it has a problem letting my son's XBOX Live account to not work and I could not find a solution on their forums. My next favorite is SmoothWall Express but it will not autodetect the NIC's in my AOpen mini-pc. So currently I am running Untangle and it works quite well.

I tried untangle. It was too heavy, and took 10 min to boot. I need to try ipfire though. I'm currently on Smoothwall. It wouldn't detect my USB NIC automatically, but I was able to manually load the appropriate module. Do some research before you give up on it.

Why does my wi-fi only perform with certain distributions of Linux?
I have tried installing up several different versions of A linux on my laptop, but the wireless internet only works with Fedora. I works a little bit with Ubuntu, but only when the pc is near to the WiFi router and it sill only gets about 20%. All the other versions do not work at all. Why is this?

For a little home router or for SMB? For home use dd-wrt. For SMB Untangle. I think the untangle interface is cartoonish but it works well and is simple. My personal favorite is PFSense.
