iPod touch screen replacement

Postby stevieb on Fri Jul 23, 2010 10:56 pm

I have my nephew's ipod touch 2g that got water damage. I dried it out and the screen comes on, but the touch screen is not responsive. I bought a digitizer and installed it and it has the same symptom. I did not buy the plastic midsection piece, nor do I have the old one hooked up. Shouldn't the screen still work while plugged in without the midsection piece? I just want to make sure b4 I go and buy the midsection- don't want to throw that money down the tube!
Thanks for your help! This is the first ipod I've attempted to repair.

This seems to be a long time post. But really when an iPod, iPhone or iPad is water damaged, for me it's 95% chance of getting it to work. Why? Remember that the batter is always connected and that just kills vital, expensive and hard to get components.

How I do it is by salvaging. Salvaging for old parts I have laying around or if I know that part (by experience), I'll purchasing it off the web.
The power to succeed is to believe you can start to be successful.
