Gateway 17” Laptop

SC: Bought a Gateway 17” Laptop from Best-Buy with Dual Core, 4GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Laptop+with+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B2+Duo+Processor+-+NightSky+Black/9548661.p?id=1218122908891&skuId=9548661&st=gateway%20laptop&cp=1&lp=2

Turns out the one he purchased had a stuck pixel. There are a number of methods to try to get rid of a stuck pixel but SC suggest using JScreenFix. http://www.jscreenfix.com/

This software method did not fix his laptop so he decided to return it.  He gets the second laptop and it has a stuck pixel but after a few seconds the stuck pixel fixed itself! SC also has a monitor with a stuck pixel that he has had for a while.  Everything he tried as suggested on the JScreenFix website did not fix this monitor so SC is asking for any suggestion.

SD:  Bought a used monitor that was advertised as having a stuck line of pixels which he did not mind since he was going to use it as his bench monitor.  When the monitor arrived it had no stuck line of pixels.  SD thinks it was fixed due to getting cold during the shipment in the winter.

SD: Had a customer that he recommended he get an no name brand LCD monitor. When he saw the monitor that the customer bought he noticed it had stuck pixels and suggested that he return it.  Customer said he didn't mind since his vision was not that good anyway!

SD: Loves customers who buy the best brand when he recommends it instead of the cheap-o because it makes his job easier.

Multiple Modems

SD: Had customer that had several cable modems at their sight instead one modem and a router.  They had tried to setup a router but ran into problems.  SD setup a router and removed the extra modems and the customer was delighted.

SD: Suggest that you check eBay for router antenna extenders than plug into the wireless router cards in your PC and moves the antenna to the top of your desk for better reception. http://cgi.ebay.com/10dBi-Antenna-Booster-Extender-w-stand-for-wifi-Router_W0QQitemZ260538068856QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca9476f78
